Welcome to Haven Middle school, a dynamic and inclusive community where curiosity is ignited, challenges are embraced, and every student is empowered to succeed. Our focus is on fostering academic excellence and a safe, civil school environment by building a positive and supportive culture where every student feels known, safe, and valued.
The Haven Approach
Our commitment to student success is built on three core pillars that guide everything we do:
- Academic Excellence & Support: We provide rigorous, data-driven instruction to challenge our students academically. Through innovative programs like our "What I Need" (WIN) time, we offer personalized support to ensure every learner has the tools they need to achieve their full potential.
- A Restorative Community: We are committed to building strong relationships and resolving conflict through restorative practices. This approach creates a culture of respect, empathy, and belonging, which is the foundation for a safe and productive learning environment.
- Student Voice & Partnership: We believe students thrive when they are active participants in their education. We create numerous opportunities for student leadership and engagement through a variety of after-school clubs, intramural sports, and IESA Athletics, as well as focused leadership groups like our Student Ambassadors and Peacekeepers. We deeply value our strong partnership with families, which we build through transparent communication and community events such as our biannual "State of Haven Showcase," Back to School Bash, Family Movie Night, Fall Play, and Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Mission
As Haven Northstars, our mission is to create an equitable and dynamic learning environment that meets the academic and social emotional needs of each student. Our primary focus is to create a safe, student-centered school community where students feel known and supported. Through their middle school experience, students will learn how to navigate and contribute to both their current and future communities.
Vision
Northstar staff, students, and families will collaborate to foster a joyful, inclusive, and supportive community for our diverse learners to achieve academic success and positive social/emotional development.
